Matt was born in Seattle, Washington to two wonderfully gifted cooks, who instilled in him at an early age the love to food. He got his first cooking job at the age of fifteen and worked in restaurants in high school and all through college. Having moved back to Seattle after graduation, he worked on and managed many of the top food trucks in Seattle before moving to San Francisco by way of the San Juan Islands, his favorite place in the world. After almost four years in the city, most of them working at the Heirloom Cafe learning to love and appreciate the bounty of Northern California, he got a job at Pizzaiolo and made the long awaited move to Oakland.
When he's not at work, he can be found cooking food from around the world, traveling, going outside, and rooting for various Seattle sports teams.
